Libraries & Educational Technologies is pleased to roll out beta versions of two new LTI-enabled web apps for use in Canvas!
A: These applications use new technologies, so L&ET is referring to them as "BETA" in order to make faculty aware that we may make changes mid-semester. "BETA" also demonstrates our commitment to evaluate these tools in consultation with faculty to inform iterative development. Contact Jody Fagan if you have feedback about these applications for the development team.
A: We anticipate the BETA period will last through Fall, 2015.
A: The Library Resources in Canvas Task Force (LYRIC) has been working with CIT and library personnel to develop these apps. We are David Vess, Grover Saunders, Liz Thompson, and Jody Fagan.
A: The LYRIC Task Force would love to hear from you! Contact Us! We also plan to conduct some purposeful evaluation activities during the Fall. As with many other parts of Canvas, aggregate usage of the applications is tracked, so we'll have data about what features are used most.
A: Web browsers don't like it when web sites open "mixed security" content. Because Canvas is a secure site, and much library content is not, if we were to try opening library resources within the Canvas frame, users would get security warnings, messy web pages, inconsistent results.
A: Yes, yes we do. Thanks for asking!
