The easiest way to be informed when an item gets checked back in is to place a hold on the item. A "hold" indicates that you want to check it out when it is back.

When viewing the detailed information in Library Search about a book, video, or other item that is 'Not Available,' click on the 'Request for Pick Up' button under 'Get it' to place a hold on an item. If you do not see this information, make sure you are signed into your library account.

Then:

  • Once the request is processed, the item displays in Library Search as 'Out of Library' with '1 request.' It also shows up in My Library Account record as a request placed. You can cancel it there, if you'd like.
  • Our system notifies the patron who currently has the item checked out to return the item, but only if the patron has had it out for at least 4 weeks.
  • When the other patron returns the item, you receive an e-mail notifying you that it is available to pick up at the location you specified at the time of the request.
