You will see changes in Carrier and Rose Libraries in the months leading up to the renovation and expansion of Carrier Library.

Why are these changes necessary before construction starts? Starting these changes now makes it possible for us to start preparing library services and spaces that will support you while Carrier is temporarily closed for construction.

In February 2023:

  • Some books will move from Carrier to Rose Library,  including our entire reference collection and many of our social sciences books

In January 2023, we:

  • Moved Equipment Loans from Carrier to the first floor of Rose.
  • Moved much of our makerspace equipment to The Makery in Rose Library.  The Makery location in Carrier Library is now available by appointment only and will close fully during spring break 2023.

In October 2022, we:

  • Moved journal issues published before 2010 from Carrier and Rose to storage.
  • Moved dissertations, theses, abstracts, and indexes from Carrier to storage.
  • Rearranged oversized books, reference books, and newer journal issues in Rose Library.
  • Rearranged some shelving in Rose Library.

As more changes are planned, we will share them here and announce them to campus.
