Accessing collections: While Carrier is under construction, you still have three ways to access JMU Libraries’ books and other collections:
1. Delivery or pickup:
Most of our books and other collections items are available via our convenient delivery services:
- Pick up at a library desk: Request items for pickup at any library desk via Library Delivery.
- Mailbox delivery: Receive items directly in your on-campus mailbox (faculty, staff, and doctoral students only).
- Email: Get scanned book chapters or journal articles delivered to your email with our Scan and Deliver service.
2. Online access:
Many of our collections are online. This includes ebooks, journal articles, and more. They will continue to be available online as usual. To find them, use Library Search or visit our Overview of Online Library Resources.
3. Walk-in access:
Items in Rose Library, Music Library, and Educational Technology and Media Center (ETMC) will be available on a walk-in basis as usual.
Searching for books and other collections: Library Search is still your best tool for searching for library books and other items. We will continue to update the physical locations of items in Library Search as collections are moved for construction.
Virtual browsing: Using Library Search offers the added benefit of showing our books and ebooks side by side. The Virtual Browse tool near the bottom of each item’s page will even suggest physical and digital items related to your search! Learn more about virtual browsing.
