Where can I use a microform reader machine to look at microfilm, microfiche, and other microform formats while Carrier Library is under construction?

You can use a microform machine at JMU Libraries Express any time during its hours of operation. Please note that Express will close permanently on May 14, 2026. 

We currently have two microform machines available, and you will find a printed quick start guide with the machines. 

If this is your first time using a microform machine or you need assistance using the machine, please use this Email Form to send us a message and submit a request.  

Library staff will reach out to schedule an appointment with you within 2 working days. We do not take appointments on the weekend or when the university is closed. 

If you have questions about access to this equipment after Express closes permanently on May 14, 2026 and before Carrier reopens on August 3, 2026, please Ask the Library.
