The difference between the catalog and the periodical locator is that they search for different items.

The JMU Library Catalog contains all of the information about our:

  • Books
  • Videos
  • Sound Recordings
  • Documents (such as government documents)

The catalog will have some information about our periodicals but it does not include information from other databases.

The Periodical Locator will search through all of the newspapers, journals, and magazines that JMU has access to.
