JMU has a school-sponsored membership to the New York Times. All students, faculty and staff can create accounts for unlimited access to NYTimes.com and the mobile/tablet apps.

HOW TO SIGN UP:

For instructions, see this video or follow the steps below: 

  1. Visit https://www.nytimes.com/activate-access/edu-access.
  2. Search for and select James Madison University
  3. You will be asked to select if you are on campus or off campus. If off campus, click GO and enter your JMU login credentials. You will be redirected to the academic pass page. If on campus you will be taken directly to this page. 
  4. Click Create Account
  5. Then enter your JMU email and click Continue
  6. Create a password
  7. You will be prompted to indicate whether you are a student or faculty/staff. If you are a student, you must then enter your expected graduation date and an alternate email address. 
  8. Click Sign Up

All NYTimes user accounts will expire after four years from the date the account was created. To regain access, users can access the link above and repeat the registration process.
