Overview

The Libraries provide access to online resources for the JMU community by lease or purchase. How we pay for a resource determines if we can assure perpetual access to it. Records in Library Search of online films will note if a film is leased or purchased.

Leased Online Films - Perpetual Access is Not Assured

Leased online resources are those we pay to provide access to, but we do not own them, nor can we assure perpetual access to them.

The following image illustrates a record in Library Search of a leased online film. The record's 'Local note' field states, "This e-video is leased for access by JMU users." This means we cannot assure the JMU community will have perpetual access to the film.

Purchased Online Films - Perpetual Access is Assured

Purchased online resources are those we paid to have perpetual access to.

The following image illustrates a record in Library Search of a purchased online film. The record's "Local note" field states "This e-video has been purchased for access by JMU users." This means we can assure the JMU community will have perpetual access to the film.
