New JMU employees with provisional access can use some campus resources before their official start date, but do not automatically get a library account or full access to JMU Libraries' collections.
However, such employees may request to be a "Community Borrower" by sending us an email or asking in person at a library service desk. We will verify their identity and JMU employment status before activating their library account.
Being a Community Borrower only enables borrowing items from our physical collections. However, anyone with a valid photo ID can access many of our electronic resources (databases, journals, etc.) from on-campus public computer workstations in JMU Libraries locations.
