Where can I download Respondus 4.0 Campus-Wide Edition?

Note to students: this is not Respondus LockDown Browser and is not a student application used for taking online exams. See this page for information about LockDown Browser.

Operating System

Respondus 4.0 only runs on Windows

Download & Install

  1. You will need to be on-campus or connected to the VPN to download the Campus-Wide edition.
  2. Download the campus-wide edition of Respondus 4.0 here.
  3. Unzip and install the program then follow the instructions below.
  4. After the installation process has completed, a Respondus 4.0 Campus-Wide icon will appear on your desktop.
  5. Click on the icon to launch Respondus 4.0.

Registration

The first time you run the program you will be asked to enter:

  1. the name of the institution
  2. the local support contacts, and
  3. the installation password.

This information must be entered EXACTLY as follows:

  1. Institution Name: James Madison University
  2. Local Support Contact: Eric Hansen, email: hansenej@jmu.edu
      Anthony Miles, email: milesab@jmu.edu
  3. Installation Password: Y2507I338212896Re94ae9dda3647082 (Password valid through the end of: July 2025)

Default Settings

It is recommended that you accept the default settings for where the program is installed.

Installation on Personal Computers & Use

Our license DOES permit you to install a copy of the Respondus 4.0 software on a home computer. However, please note that you are not permitted to provide the software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with our institution. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with Respondus and is also illegal.

Context Sensitive Help

Context-sensitive help is available throughout the Respondus 4.0 by:

  • pressing the F1 key
  • selecting “Help” from the pull-down menu on the toolbar.
